Remembering Past Residents
Every rabbit who has been part of Parsleys Warren ‘lives on’ in our memories.
Some rabbits are with us for many years, some for just a few months, but all become part of the life and love that is Parsleys Warren. Each and every one have their own special character which we remember here.
We are currently working on this page as there are so many rabbits who have passed through Parsleys Warren (and our hearts) to remember. There will be about 100 rabbits here when we update fully, and sometimes it is hard to find the words . . so bear with us as we gradually create this page sometimes putting up a name and an image as we carefully frame the words to add. Some not as yet on although just as loved. We thought it was better to publish it as we go along rather than wait until it is ‘finished’ .. . They are not in an order as we ae not yet sure whether to be chronological or alphabetical or just ‘as they come’ but more recent ones are towards the start.
PARSLEY PIERT PARCELS (2011-2022) our inspiration and forever part of our lives. Son of Parsley Parcels, Parsley Piert was with us for every day of his life for twelve years and was the most incredibly human friendly and empathetic 'Head of Warren'. He was a comfort to the elderly and less able and a stern flick of the tail to the more pushy!

EASTER (2020-2023): Wild, brave, intelligent, handsome, and amazingly photogenic (and never ever modest!)! Beloved of China Cat an all who met him. His spirit lives on. Like an Angel Standing. in a Shaft of Light
ALBERTINE (2006-2016) came to live out his final years with us and found a new lease of life as the garden became his paradise. He is remembered in an old rose planted against the house wall 'Albertine'.

APPLE BLOSSOM (2014-2022) came to us with her supposed sister Apricot before we were officially Parsleys Warren, and stayed to be a beloved partner to Pamplemouse. She was always ambivalent about humans but was patient about the ear treatments she had in her final years and enjoyed life to the end.
APRICOT (2014-2023) a gloriously golden rex with all the associated tendencies to weight gain and arthritis, the labradors of the rabbit world! Apricot a with us for many years and formed a trio with China Cat and Parsley Piert. Her sore hocks led us to discover the lovely people over at rabbit, and we are now the proud organisers of the 'Apricots Socks Loan Scheme' so that people can try out the socks on their rabbits before buying.

BLACKBERRY (2006-2011) was found in a pet shop being sold as a baby but already showing signs of E.C which resulted in head tilt, fits and cataracts. He went on to bond with Pumpkin and let a happy life until the fits became too often and too much.

The unique and amazing BOBBY (2018-2021) came to us severely disabled with spinal damage, but made an incredible series of recoveries allowing him to have fabulous year hopping and running around the house and garden, before spending his final months with his beloved Amy as his spine deteriorated and needed 1:1 care and love. Forever missed.
BORAGE (2012-2018) a beautiful speckled rabbit who loved life here and loved being part of the large group indoors (here with Fairy Flax who he came in with). Sadly he came to us with numerous health issues and left too soon.

BRAMBLEBERRY (2021-2024) came to us from a guinea pig rescue! Not because they thought he was a guinea pig, but because members of the public whose cats bring in baby rabbits often just contact their nearest animal rescue. Brambleberry had already had to have his eye removed before he came to us, and was otherwise healthy but could not be released. If he didn't want us to see him he would just turn his head the other way! Sadly he passed away suddenly I n Spring 2024 having had a short illness possibly associated with his initial injury.
BROADBEAN FLOWER (or Beanflower as he was generally known for his black and white markings) (2010-2019) came to us from Rabbit Residence Rescue. A larger rabbit he had the typically gentle nature and fitted well into his role in our larger indoor group after his loss of sight (EC) He was one of the very very few rabbits to have a lens replacement operation as he found sight loss difficult.
CARIAD (2009-2020) (and Flanders). Cariad came to us as an older rabbit and within days was rushed into the vets with a bladder stone the size of a marble! Incredibly he had managed to get it as far as his urethra - where it had got stuck! He went on to live several happy years with us, and even survived another operation to have an eye removed! Like many older buns he was a perfect gentleman anda perfect pillow for other rabbits.

CARROT was one of our oldest wildies now, having travelled down from Scunthorpe Rabbit Rescue back in 2018. He was the head of the main wildie group and very confident, having been hand reared by humans. Wild rabbits in domestic care can live to 10-12 years of age and Carrot achieved this before succumbing to a growth in his lungs.
CHRYSANTHEMUM (2015-2020) was a stunning and incredibly brave girl who came to us for a social services situation after her eyes had been infected and she had gone blind. She never let that stop her and explored every inch of the garden in her time here. Some people found her clouded eyes hard to look at but we loved her for them.

DAMSON (2001-2010), brother to QUINCE, was ne of our first rabbits. From the Blue Cross he was a cheeky boy who adored his calmer plump sister. He developed kidney issues and was the first rabbit we had who had major surgery with a kidney removal at the age of 8! He lived 2 more fabulous years and led to our exploring what medical interventions could help rabbits .

DELPHINIUM was the 'labrador' of the rabbit world and had a tendancy to gain weight just looking at grass! She came to us as a 'direct rescue' from someone who was keeping her in a small pen in a bedsit but reached out for help. Delphinium spent many years happily paired with CHARLES until a sudden demise in summer 2024 aged only 7. However larger rabbits often have sadly shorter lives.
FAIRY FLAX (2013-2023): Our shy little girl like a powder puff with added food debris and the odd strand of hay attached! Tiny under all that fur she came in with a chronically ill partner now sadly passed away. She became one of our oldest residents now, and features on the Parsleys Warren logo. She always had anxiety issues, but was happy with the indoor group who looked after her until the end.

FERN was a beautiful young wildie who had been brought into rescue following a cat catching her and causing injuries. She had been nursed back to health and came to us afterwards as not suitable for re-release. She lived in our wildie group but sadly developed nasal issues from an underlying infection probably related to the original capture and passed away in 2024. PLEASE keep your cats under control as much as you can as we have so many young rabbits brought in with injuries.

FLANDERS (2008-2022) (and his memorial Cat) came to us already well advanced in years but surprisingly nimble and string minded! He mellowed after he had a stroke which resulted in a head tilt (he was not an EC head tilt rabbit) and came to live in the big indoor group. He was soon a stalwart member of the select band, and would sneak up and lay his head on anybun that stayed still for too long! Hence the advent of the doorstopper cat!

FLEUR (2015-2023) seen here (to the right) with her sister Saffron and friend Rosehip. Like many agouti (brown natural clour) rabbits, Fleur and Saffron had spent too much time in rescue waiting for a new home, and so we adopted them (from Animals in Need, Northants). They were inseperable and loved their outdoor life with Rosehip.

FLORENCE (1999-2007) an incredible determined and intelligent rabbit, Florence came into the Blue Cross in cambridge with a leg that had to be amputated due to breaks. She was incredibly fortunate that they were determined she should have a happy new life, and we adopted her as our first disabled rabbit. She was the love of Teasel's life and lived indoors with us.

GIRASOLE (Sunflower in Italian) was one of those totally amazing characters you never forget! Brain damaged from EC he would rush around like mad then just collapse in a heap usually directly in front of the kitchen door, or the washing machine door, or both at once! Causing maximum inconvenience for all. He made a 'play' for China Cat but was overtaken by Easter . . . we miss him dreadfully every time we can easily negotiate our way round the kitchen!

GOOSEBERRY (2009-2016). Somehow we always seem to have a pure white lop with us indoors! Usually a red-eyes-white (although sometimes blue eyed). Gooseberry sadly sufferred from head tilt in his final years but sent many happy days laying in the sunshine by the willow tree in the garden.

HARRY (2010-2023) came to us already at least 10 years old and was with us for several years and so was one of our longest lived rabbits. Slightly stiff in his back legs and with the typical snuffles of flat nosed rabbits (especially as they get older), he was remarkably lively otherwise and loved being part of our large indoor group.
HERBIE (2010-2021) came to us the day we officially launched Parsleys Warren as a Rabbit Sanctuary and starred in all our launch party images! He was sadly only with us for a short while but was an incredibly handsome chap!

NUTMEG (2007-2017) Rescued after being spotted on a Preloved advert Nutmeg became one of our larger groups of rabbits who shared temprements of gentleness and fun.
PANSY (2007-2012) Deeply deliciously made-up with panda eyes and a quick appreciation of life and her role in it!. Pansy came to us from Barnsey Animal rescue Centre (BARC) and kept us on our toes for the years she was here.

PARSNIP (1999-2007) along with Bramble, Parslip arrived to keep Sweet Pea company in the very very first days of our rabbit-journey. She was a joy in our lives and taught us so uch about what a rabbit is realy all about.

PEASGOOD NONSUCH (2011-2021). Once we started takig in orphaned or disabled wildies they came thick and fast! Peasgood Nonsuch joined Pippin in the wildie chalet as 'second in command' for many many years and was quick and intelligent but always shyer that Pippin.
PERSICARIA PURSLETTE and her brother Periwinkle came to us from a rescue in the north of the country, being born in rescue. Sadly Persicaria had mega-colon which is a genetic condition that nothing can be done about. As we knew from the earliest days she was placed on medication to help her gut function immediately, but sadly she passed away at just 2 years old.
PERIWINKLE PURSLANSON, brother to Persicaria was born in a rescue in the rth of the country. He was a devoted brother to Persicaria, and after she passed away we found him a perfect home with a close friend. Here he lived a magical life until he too passed away a few years later.

QUINCE (2000-2008) sister to the cheeky Damson, she seemed more like a mother with her billowing bosom and comforting style when damson's kidney's troubled him. It was a shock when she went first after years of placid love and health. We are so grateful to the Cambridge Blue Cross for their lives.

ROSEHIP came to us many years ago with her sister COWSLIP. Sadly Cowslip was not with us long but Rosehip made a wonderful trio with saffron and Fluer and lived to be 10 years old, passing away in her sleep in 2024

The stunning SAGE (2005-2007) seen here with Mulberry, came to us after being spotted in a Notcutts pet shop . She was being kept back because she had maloccluded teeth and other issues (including being of mixed sex). She was the happiest little rabbit and was adored by her large partner Mulberry but had internal issues which cut life short. She enjoyed every moment she had!

SAMSON (2017?-2022) was everything his name implied, a gentle giant of a rabbit with kindness at his heart. We were privileged to be trusted to look after him for his final years.

SILVERLEAF (2015-2023) our handsome silver grey rex who struggled so long and hard with pasturella, comforted in the final months by the love and care of Amy.
SNOWDROP (2007) was one of those incredibly sad stories you never truly get over. He had been found in a park by some children and came to the Blue Cross from where we adopted him. He was totally adorable and beloved but unexpectedly passed away whilst being neutered. We have never forgotten him and the life he did not have.
SWEET PEA (1998-2009) was our very first rabbit! From the Blue Cross in Cambridge (now sadly closed) he was apparently called Sweep but I misheard . . and hence he started the tradition of flower and plant naming, and indeed our love of rabbits and realisation of the need for rabbit rescues.

TEASEL: (2000-2010). Beloved of Florence and also of myself, Teasel introduced us to the real joys of sharing your house and kitchen(!) and garden with a soulmate in the form of a rabbit. He will never leave me.

THISTLEDOWN (2010-2022) came to us already an elderly gentleman and stayed for the final years of his life, surviving and overcoming blindness and a leg amputation and yet still wandering up and down the garden path every day enjoying his freedom and comforts. Stunningly handsome and gentle in every way.
VIOLA (2009) is one of the very sad cases where we cannot give more than care and love for a brief while. Viola came in with severe spinal injury which is relatively common where rabbits have been given to children to play with . Assessment and CT scan sadly told us that her life could not be made comfortable and we held her whilst she passed out of our world.

VIOLA ROSE (2008-2010) (with Mistletoe Snowgoose) came to us through the RSPCA. A gentle and loving rabbit she had an amazing bond with Mistletoe Snowgoose. Sadly she succombed to myxomatosis despite being vaccinated in the days when the vaccine was not always successful and passed away a year later.
VIOLETTA (2012-2021) came from Rabbit Residence with Coltsfoot - a very special needs rabbit. But went on to partner a range of others who she kept VERY firmly in line!! We nicknamed her Violenta in her latter years but she mellowed toward the end and we miss her.
WILLOW (2006-2018) arriving with her sister ROBINIA, Willow was the soft and gentle on of the pair, always placid and plump and content whilst her sister took the more active role. She lived to be one of our oldest rabbits and was a sad loss.

WOODBINE (2011-2022) one of the Parsley Piert siblings - all a bundle of amazing greys and whites and all with their own characters, Woodbine was one of the last to leave us and we had over 10 years with her.
