Caring for Rabbits with Head Tilt: 25th Oct 2026 10.30-13.00

£30.00
Limit 2 per order

Whether a result of EC, inner ear disease or trauma, rabbits with chronic head tilt have particular care needs and may benefit from on-going treatments as well as adaptation to accommodation and alertness to possible impacts on other areas of the body. The two talks (before and after a break for discussions and cake!) will cover care during both acute and chronic (long term) phases, challenges that can present themselves and possible solutions and ameliorations. Discussion will cover topics including the problem of the ‘down eye’, eye ulceration and vision loss, brain damage, balance, early onset arthritic conditions and spondylosis, muscular cramping, long term treatments vs immune suppression, and indicators of more extensive damage to the kidney/liver systems. We will not cover the ‘veterinary’ aspects of latest findings in causes of EC or pros/cons surgery bilateral ear disease etc as these talks are aimed at the home carer stage of head tilt. We will however briefly cover the ‘other end’ of EC - lower body paralysis. Home made LUNCH can be available for £10 if booked in advance.
